Building Leader - Dillon Elementary Reports To Supervisor of Operations Supervises May instruct custodial employees in basic work procedures and safe working practices. Job Purpose and Focus To provide staff and students a safe, attractive, clean and efficient place to learn and develop and insure that building equipment and grounds are properly maintained. The employee shall devote his/her entire time to the care of the school property within the assigned. The employee shall take every precaution for the protection of the property. The employee shall serve as an advisor to the Supervisor of Operations on matters pertaining and limited to, safety, maintenance of the districts buildings, grounds and equipment. Job tasks may differ depending on the season. Essential Qualifications and Requirements
▪ High school diploma or equivalent
▪ Maintains excellent personal hygiene
▪ Possesses and maintains an excellent attendance record
▪ Self-motivated in getting task completed
▪ Knowledge of the operation of cleaning equipment and use of cleaning supplies
▪ Ability to motivate and provide leadership to building custodial staff
▪ Ability to use good judgment in emergency situations
▪ Knowledge of minor maintenance and repair
▪ Ability to prioritize work assignments and set work schedules for day and evening staff
▪ Positive attitude toward supervisors and administrators
▪ Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when working with staff, students and the general public
▪ Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position
▪ Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form
▪ Knowledge of and adherence to all district requirements and Board of Education policies
▪ Ability to meet deadlines Essential Functions and Representative Duties
▪ Work with standard custodial chemicals and finishes for cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting
▪ Perform scheduled full cleaning assignments
▪ Dust mop floors and dust rooms
▪ Clean sinks, urinals and stools. Use a plunger to unplug toilets, sinks, and drinking fountains
▪ Wash classroom windows and doors
▪ Replenish and clean soap and paper dispensers
▪ Wash chalkboards, desks, chairs, walls, tables, and other room surfaces and furnishings.
▪ Clean and wash lockers
▪ Vacuum areas as needed with various vacuum cleaners
▪ Perform all other light housekeeping chores
▪ Trim shrubbery and mow grass
▪ Unlock doors
▪ Maintain floors, including floor finishing and floor machine operation
▪ Remove trash and re-lines receptacles
▪ Clean snow from landings and walkways
▪ Change light bulbs. Replace defective ballasts
▪ Move furniture and other classroom equipment as authorized by the principal
▪ Continually check, correct, or report dangerous equipment conditions and potentially hazardous situations
▪ Effectively communicate all operational needs
▪ Climb ladders if needed to complete task
▪ Assist in summer building clean up as directed by the Supervisor of Operations
▪ Complete painting projects as assigned by the Supervisor of Operations
▪ Perform other duties as assigned Terms of Employment Wages and benefits as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Board of Education. This is a level C position ($14.38 - $19.50/hour) for 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year. Work Environment The employee must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work both in and out of doors in all weather conditions and with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions, use a variety of hand and power tools; lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment. Must be available for regular standby assignments and emergency overtime as required. Evaluation/Performance Measurements Custodial workers will be evaluated bi-annually. Criteria for performance include but are not limited to:

▪ Verbal, mathematical aptitude as required by job duties
▪ Participation in specific training or workshop opportunities
▪ Demonstration of interpersonal, time, conflict, and stress management skills
