The night custodian is an important part of our facilities team and is responsible for cleaning and maintaining assigned areas of the parish and school campus during the evening hours. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Dependable and consistently present for scheduled shifts. Self-motivated and able to work independently. Hardworking and takes pride in their work. A positive and respectful team member. Able to follow established cleaning schedules and procedures. Attentive to detail. Comfortable working around children, families, parishioners, and staff. Able to communicate respectfully and professionally. Able to respond appropriately when an unexpected cleaning or facility need arises. At least 18 years of age. Able to provide reliable transportation to and from work. Practicing Catholic is desired but not required. Due to diocese requirements for employees working in a school, individuals with theft, violence, or drug-related offenses will not qualify for employment. Core Responsibilities The night custodian will follow assigned building schedules, checklists, and priorities to ensure that assigned areas are properly cleaned and maintained.
Duties include:
Vacuuming carpets and floors. Sweeping and mopping floors. Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms. Dusting and cleaning surfaces. Emptying trash and recycling. Cleaning classrooms, offices, common areas, and other assigned spaces. Cleaning and maintaining parish and school gathering spaces. Cleaning kitchens and other designated areas. Restocking restroom and cleaning supplies. Reporting maintenance, safety, or facility concerns to the facilities & maintenance director. Setting up or cleaning up areas following parish or school activities when assigned. Performing seasonal and periodic deep-cleaning tasks. Using cleaning equipment and products safely and properly. Completing other custodial duties as assigned. Expectations Night custodians are expected to: Arrive on time and be ready to work. Consistently complete assigned areas and tasks. Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures. Complete work thoroughly rather than simply completing the minimum task. Treat parishioners, students, families, staff, and coworkers with courtesy and respect. Communicate concerns promptly. Report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, leaks, or other facility problems. Properly secure assigned areas when work is completed. Work cooperatively with other custodial and maintenance staff. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working in parish and school spaces. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach. Lift and carry cleaning supplies and equipment. Push and pull cleaning equipment. Climb stairs. Occasionally use ladders or step stools. Compensation & Benefits Pay:
$16.50-$18.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Single-coverage health care paid 100%, plus vacation and sick leave; vision and dental available.
