Custodian (part-time) 3500 West Holmes Road, Lansing, MI 48911 $12.50 - $13.00 an hour - Part-time $12.50 - $13.00 an hour - Part-time Basic Responsibilities Provide and assure the delivery of maintenance and custodial services required by the church. To protect the church's properties and ensure a clean and orderly environment, internally and externally. General Description The position incumbent reports to the church Pastor. However, certain day to day responsibilities may be delegated to the Buildings and Grounds Committee of the Trustee Board, for supervisory over sight. The Custodian shall have responsibility for cleaning the church, its sanctuary, offices, various classrooms, chapel, kitchen and other areas. The position shall ensure that all exterior grounds are well maintained during all seasons; including those at the Pastor's dwelling. The position shall perform other duties as assigned. Janitorial Expectations & Specifications The following definitions outline minimum acceptable standards for the activity to be performed: Sweeping and Damp Mopping Dust mopping must be performed with a treated mop. Leave no dirt in corners, behind radiators, under furniture, and under pews, behind doors. Leave no dirt where sweepings were picked up. The floors must be properly prepared, thoroughly swept to remove visible dirt and debris, and foreign substances from the floor surfaces. Perform vacuuming on all carpeted areas. Dusting Weekly or monthly standard room set-ups shall be made routinely for Sunday School, and board meetings. Classrooms used during the week shall be cleaned and returned to normal setting Additional Requirements Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Knowledge of modern cleaning techniques, appropriate use of solutions, and standard maintenance chores. Must have skill in operating motorized equipment and be capable of lifting tables, chairs or other equipment. Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's license. Must be able to work effectively and cooperatively with supervisor and peers; and possess and maintain a courteous and helpful attitude towards members and visitors. Minimum Education and Training Graduation from high school or GED. Two or more years' experience with responsibility for a variety of maintenance and custodial tasks.
