A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
A hospital custodian performs sanitation and maintenance duties within our hospital, clinic, and other medical buildings. Your responsibilities are to ensure that all public spaces, such as hallways, bathrooms, and exam rooms are clean/sanitized. Our custodian will also perform other duties such as removal of garbage/recycles, shoveling snow, washing windows. You will use a variety of tools and equipment, such as mops, vacuums, carpet steamers, and floor buffers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Sweeps walkways and entrances. Shovels snow and performs other outside duties as requested. Sweeps and mops halls; vacuums; cleans mats. Empties trash baskets and transports medical waste to designated area(s). Empties shredders and transports recycled paper to designated area(s). Delivers recyclables to off-site drop off area(s). Washes windows, casings and screens - inside and out. (Requires taking them apart) Removes and replaces cubicle curtains. Moves furniture and equipment. Cleans walls, floor vents, air vents, radiators and fans. Cleans restrooms. Orders supplies as needed. Cleans and changes filters in kitchen exhaust hood. Demonstrate appropriateness in meeting objectives in age-specifics. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Ability to follow written and oral directions. One year of custodial experience in a hospital or institution. Must be able to operate a floor scrubber, wet/dry vacuum, carpet scrubber, steam cleaner and other cleaning equipment. Must be able to lift 80 lbs. Valid driver's license. Heartsaver CPR Certified (obtain upon employment)
