Duties Perform thorough cleaning of all church areas, including sanctuary, meeting rooms, hallways, restrooms, staff offices, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies. Handle chemical agents safely by following established chemical handling safety procedures to ensure a healthy environment for staff and visitors. Operate floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and other custodial equipment to maintain spotless floors and surfaces. Conduct routine janitorial tasks such as dusting, mopping, sweeping, trash removal, and sanitation of high-touch surfaces to uphold cleanliness standards. Follow safety protocols diligently during heavy lifting or manual handling tasks to prevent injuries while moving furniture or cleaning supplies. Support special event setups or cleanups as needed to ensure the church is prepared for services or community gatherings. Skills Proven experience in cleaning or janitorial roles within commercial or residential settings; prior custodial experience is highly valued. Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation practices, and proper use of cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and commercial cleaning tools. Ability to handle chemical agents safely by adhering to chemical handling safety procedures and safety protocol guidelines. Physical stamina for lifting, manual handling, and prolonged periods of standing or walking; knowledge of safe lifting practices is essential. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude towards congregation members and staff; ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Commitment to safety protocols at all times to ensure a secure environment for everyone using the facility.
