What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

LOCATION
: Norup International School Monday
- Friday, approx. 3:00 pm
- 11:30 pm 40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year
COMPENSATION
Starting at $18.63 per hour per the current AFSCME Salary Schedule
- commensurate with education/experience + benefit package provided in the current AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED preferred Good moral character Ability to create and maintain good public relations Ability to understand and communicate in English Ability to clear equipment, materials and methods used in custodial work Ability to work without constant direct supervision Ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting and moving a minimum of 50 lbs. Excellent attendance record Sussessful completion of drug/fitness screening and criminal background check
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean assigned areas as follows: Sweep and vacuum rooms and halls Dust rooms and lockers Mop bathroom floor, clean toilets and urinals and replenish paper supplies Clean whiteboards as necessary Clean doors and windows Clean entryways Report any needed repairs to custodial supervisor Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation in their section Perform set ups and takedowns for events and activities Clean up after night activities Assist with snow removal Perform other duties as assigned
