What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Maintain cleanliness of the shop and office spaces daily while striving for a perfect 5S concept score.

Responsibilities Essential Job Duties:
Performs custodial work in offices, warehouses, industrial areas, and other building interiors Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors using standard or industrial equipment Empties recycling and trash receptacles daily and removes the contents to appropriate dumpsters Sometimes using ladders, dusts and washes/cleans walls, doors, glass, windows, ceilings Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas as required May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, carpets, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions May also sweep walks or perform other incidental seasonal tasks when required Keeps lunchroom area surfaces and appliances clean and free from stains, including floors, tabletops, counters Participate in upholding 5 S standards
Competencies Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED with 1 - 2 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
