A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
Get Directions Park Rapids School District is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Custodian I at Century School. This full-time position is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Monday through Friday, 11 am
- 7:30 pm during the school year. Flexible daytime hours in the summer. Additional Pay incentives for candidates who hold a Boiler's license with Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry or Pool Certification, or the ability to obtain. The District will support candidates who desire to obtain the boiler's license or pool certification. Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
- Ensure all facilities are stocked with necessary supplies, such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for events, meetings, and activities.
- Conduct routine inspections of the building to identify maintenance needs and report issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Maintain outdoor areas, including trash removal, snow shoveling, and general upkeep of grounds.
- Collaborate with other custodial staff and school administration to ensure efficient operations.
- Adhere to district policies and procedures regarding cleanliness and safety standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, as well as perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Must pass a background check and comply with all school district policies.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
