A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.
•We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Janitor/Cleaner to join our facilities maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across our commercial or industrial spaces. Your proactive approach to cleaning and upkeep will ensure that our facilities meet the highest standards of hygiene and safety, contributing to a positive experience for employees, visitors, and clients alike. This position is scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30a - 9:30a. Starting wage is $15.00/hour. We have a three month probation period, and based on performance you could increase your pay up to $16.50/hour. Duties Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal across all designated areas. Handle chemical agents safely while using cleaning supplies, floor buffers, and other custodial equipment to ensure effective sanitation. Conduct floor care procedures such as buffing, stripping, sealing, and polishing to maintain pristine flooring surfaces. Assist with heavy lifting tasks using proper techniques to move furniture, equipment, or supplies without risking injury. Maintain cleanliness of restrooms, break rooms, hallways, offices, and industrial spaces by adhering to established cleaning protocols. Support facilities maintenance activities including minor repairs and reporting larger issues promptly for resolution. Follow safe lifting practices and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling industrial cleaning chemicals or performing manual handling tasks. Experience Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial, residential, or industrial settings is highly desirable. Familiarity with chemical agent handling and proper storage procedures ensures safety during cleaning operations. Experience operating floor buffers and performing various floor care techniques enhances the quality of maintenance work. Comfort with heavy lifting tasks combined with safe lifting practices ensures injury prevention during physical duties.
