Custodian

Objective :

Creating a welcoming and inviting space for people includes excellence in the cleanliness of our facilities. This person has the primary responsibility of keeping the church facility clean and in good repair. This person also has the responsibility to see the facilities are set up properly for worship and events. This person will work in conjunction with others to reach the goal of a clean and safe facility. This person is an integral part of the overall ministry of the church.

Requirements:

Embrace and support the mission and vision of SUMC. Be (or become in a specified amount of time and church will cover cost) Safe Gathering Certified, including successful completion of the background screening. Be a self-starter; be able to initiate, coordinate & work without close supervision. Be trustworthy & have good communication skills. Be able to maintain confidentiality. Be skilled at minor repairs. Be able to properly lift sixty (60) pounds. Have flexibility/ agreed upon scheduled work hours.

Tasks:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks , as directed by SUMC Pastors or Church Board. There will be monthly and miscellaneous tasks that will also be discussed at the interview. Weekly task

• Check trash min of 2 times a week and whenever scheduled
• Sweep & mop Kitchen floor & mats
• Sweep & mop Family Life Center, including stage
• Sweep & mop Dodge Hall
• Sweep & mop foyer, entries & hallways, including stairs indoors & outdoors
• Sweep & mop Epworth Hall
• Vacuum Sanctuary
• Vacuum offices & hallway
• Dust, sweep/vacuum, mop classrooms/nursery/Sunday school rooms
• Clean all bathrooms: including sinks, walls, baseboards, stall doors, toilets. Clean mirrors. Replace toilet tissue and paper towels as needed
• Shake & vacuum all doormats
• Clean all glass doors/windows
• pick -up trash on grounds

Pay:

$17.00 - $18.80 per hour
