A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.
Responsible for heavy cleaning of Hotel public areas, restrooms, and support areas such as marble, brass, waxing, etc. in a flawless and timely manner. Also responsible for moving and stocking of linen.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 21 years of age. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Prefer minimum of one (1) year previous experience cleaning in a similar position. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Demonstrate a working knowledge in the safe and correct use of all cleaning chemicals and proper operation of equipment. Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand and walk throughout shift. Must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and work in confined areas. Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays; ability to work occasional overtime. Must be able to carry and communicate by two-way radio. Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to obtain/maintain any necessary licenses and/or certifications.
