A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.
Districtwide Custodial Supervisor Needed!! Full time position. Salary-$65k-$70k plus $18k in additional income in lieu of benefits and $1500 housing stipend!
SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Director of Facilities and under general direction, plan, organize, coordinate the activities of assigned personnel engaged in the general upkeep, maintenance, repair, cleaning and general care of District facilities and properties; and perform related duties as assigned. These currently include the elementary and high school buildings and campuses, oversight of the Willson and Support Services Buildings, and the bus barn facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate custodial staff who perform building cleaning and grounds maintenance; and provide general custodial/grounds support services. Supervise and direct all Roving Custodial staff. Coordinate regularly with the District Facilities office for all purchasing and procurement of related supplies, maintenance items, and general building management assistance. Embrace a customer service attitude towards working with other District staff, students, and outside individuals. Establish and maintain effective cooperative relationships with related departmental personnel or units. As requested by the Director of Facilities, make regular or special inspection of all buildings, classrooms, general assembly spaces, and administration offices. This will include all fixtures, grounds, tools, equipment, and related items for cleanliness, safety, appearance, operating effectiveness and needed repair or replacement. Plan, arrange for, and/or conduct individual or group training to ensure District safety, security, and sanitation standards are maintained, along with proper performance of duties and appropriate care and use of equipment. Establish a training program for assigned staff. Test, evaluate, and recommend new cleaning products, equipment, and techniques and determine actual cost per use, and make value comparisons. Evaluate existing supplies, products and equipment and develop recommendations for standardization where feasible to reduce the number of variations and costs. Evaluate need, analyze circumstances, and recommend allotment of custodial/grounds work hours for sites or staffing levels. Schedules staffing to meet service requirements for District facilities and grounds maintenance, to include summer programs/schedule. Actively participate in the District's Annual Capital Improvement process from both a planning and implementation standpoint. Responsible for processing facility use requests from a custodial support aspect and assigning employee schedules. Responsible for maintaining a current list of substitute and/or roving custodians and coordinating with the facilities office for dispatch of substitutes on an as-needed basis. Responsible for supporting building principals and other District site managers in the supervision and evaluation of the custodial/grounds maintenance staff. Responsible for performing custodial cleaning inspections and audits as needed to verify that proper procedures and practices are being met and followed. Provide Buildings occupants with a safe, clean, attractive, comfortable and efficient environment to enhance student learning. Assist and provide information to contractors when needed. Contact, coordinate, inspect and spot check the contractor's work as needed. Responsible for the training and coordination of snow removal and building security issues. Maintain tool and equipment inventories in a clean, accessible, and working manner. Meet deadlines and assignments with severe time constraints. Meet with faculty and administrators to resolve problems that arise with custodial/grounds activities or work. Inspect sites to determine the presence of reported pests (wasps, ants, etc) and/or issues related to trees, shrubs, turf, irrigation and sports fields. Arrange for application of herbicides/pesticides in conformance with all applicable regulations. Establish and manage the District's agricultural Integrated Pest Management Program. Pick up, transport, and deliver supplies, equipment, or personnel as needed. Interview and recommend selection of Roving Custodial personnel. Inspect contracted work on special projects such as landscape/irrigation, tree removal and construction related to custodial/grounds maintenance activities. Submit budget recommendations for personnel, supplies and equipment needed; and monitor expenditures during the fiscal year. Prepare periodic reports regarding custodial/grounds functions such as training, productivity, problems, discipline, accidents, fiscal matters, etc. Keep time, labor and material records and recommend approval of monthly time cards. Have the knowledge and ability to operate vehicles and custodial/grounds equipment. May periodically be required to respond to calls regarding vandalism, break-ins, fires, or other emergencies occurring at District sites during other than normal business hours. Investigate employee grievances as directed by Human Resources Department. Assign Roving Custodial personnel. May represent the District at various proceedings when so designated. May open or secure sites as needed. May approve overtime requests. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE OF
Current methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in custodial/grounds care of school grounds and facilities. Effective principles of supervision and training to include a working knowledge of District policies and procedures concerning hiring, supervision and disciplinary practices. Occupational and safety regulations, including personal protective equipment, SDS management and applicable pesticide management regulations and guidelines. Current HVAC controls and system operations. Preventative maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to include but not limited to hydronic heating systems, waste drain systems, electrical power distribution, lighting systems, Computer systems and online forms. Scheduling and organizing custodial/grounds maintenance work. Budgeting and fiscal management.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); Five (5) years of progressive experience in custodial and grounds maintenance of similar sized physical plant. Additional three (3) years direct supervisory and management experience in cleaning, construction, maintenance, facilities management or similar service related industry. Any other combination of training and/or experience that could likely provide the desired skills, knowledge or abilities may be considered.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
There is the possible requirement for night work with occasional need to work weekends or holidays to effectively supervise assigned personnel. High Pressure Boiler Operator License
