In this energetic position, you'll be responsible for thoroughly cleaning and inspecting kitchen exhaust hoods, ducts, and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and fire safety standards. Your expertise will help prevent fire hazards, improve air quality, and uphold the highest standards of cleanliness in bustling restaurant and food service settings. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop specialized skills in industrial cleaning while making a tangible impact on safety and hygiene. Duties Perform detailed cleaning of kitchen exhaust hoods, ducts, filters, and fans using appropriate cleaning tools and techniques such as pressure washing and manual scrubbing. Safely operate ladders and scaffolding to access high or hard-to-reach areas while adhering to all safety protocols. Use hand tools and specialized cleaning equipment to remove grease buildup, debris, and other contaminants from ductwork and ventilation systems. Apply industry-standard safety procedures including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, goggles, and fire extinguishers during all cleaning operations. Conduct manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting of equipment or debris to ensure efficient cleanup without risking injury. Follow strict safety protocols during outdoor work environments, including proper use of fire extinguishers and adherence to OSHA guidelines. Document completed work through detailed reports, noting any issues with ductwork or ventilation systems that require further attention or repair. Skills Proficiency in ladder use for accessing elevated areas safely and confidently. Strong knowledge of industrial cleaning methods specific to kitchen exhaust systems. Experience with pressure washing equipment and various cleaning tools used in commercial settings. Ability to handle manual tasks involving heavy lifting and manual handling safely. Familiarity with duct cleaning procedures, including inspection techniques for identifying grease buildup or damage. Knowledge of safety protocols including PPE usage, fire extinguisher operation, and outdoor work safety measures. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about work performed and safety practices. Experience with floor buffing or general commercial cleaning is a plus for maintaining overall cleanliness standards in the work environment.
