A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for evening cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking of custodial supplies on PCC's Person Campus. The Evening Porter schedule will overlap with the Day Porters to ensure communication of custodial priorities. Essential Duties Monitor the evening custodial staff and inspect custodial work being performed. Communicate any custodial daily priorities, supplies, and scheduling as necessary. Cleans, dusts, sweeps, mops and disposes of trash in the campus buildings according to assigned job schedule and needed areas. Bathrooms- cleaning and restocking all paper products, soaps, and sanitize daily. Attend to janitorial needs daily (food or dirt on floor, wet floor signs placed at entrance when raining, or for any other spill calls that may arise). Keep check on building entrances, trash and custodial equipment is properly returned at the end of shift. Instruct evening custodial staff on the proper use of cleaning supplies, equipment, and procedures. Maintain professional appearance at all times. Director, Facility Services Education and Experience:
Completion of high school/high school equivalency. One year of experience in a related field.
Licenses and Certificates:
Valid state driver's license. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of custodial equipment (vacuum cleaners, mops and mop buckets, dust mops, high dusters and floor maintenance equipment necessary to clean carpets, and strip and wax VCT). Ability to read and understand label instructions on various chemicals. Skilled in written and verbal communications. Physical Demands This job requires frequently standing, walking, and kneeling. Must be comfortable working on a step ladder. Occasionally required to lift 25 pounds.
