A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
Applications are being accepted for an 40 hour a week custodian position at Bellevue East High School. The custodian is responsible for the general care and upkeep of assigned areas of the buildings, grounds, and equipment. Duties include fundamental cleaning skills, lifting, following directions and ability to physically handle setup and teardown of activity events. To a lesser extent, the custodian assists with maintenance support. The custodian's assignment is subject to changes in areas and duties within this job description. The custodian is responsible for carrying out the instructions of the custodial leader and the building administrator. In addition, candidate may be required to mow, trim hedges, and remove snow, which may require working flexible hours in inclement weather. Candidates must enjoy working around children, and be able to work well with others as a team. Previous experience preferred but not required to apply for this position. Required qualifications are that the applicant not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself or others with or without reasonable accommodations, and must be capable of regularly attending to the duties of the position assigned. This position is subject to a veterans preference. Duty hours are typically Monday through Friday, from 3:00 pm-11:30 pm.
