A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

Position Summary:
Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment throughout the facility. Performs routine cleaning, sanitation, minor maintenance, and other custodial duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, hallways, common areas, and other assigned spaces. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces. Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly. Restock restroom and cleaning supplies. Clean windows, glass, fixtures, and other surfaces. Operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning chemicals safely. Report maintenance, safety, or repair issues to supervisors. Perform minor tasks such as changing light bulbs or moving furniture when appropriate. Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment in an organized condition. Follow health, safety, and workplace sanitation procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred but not always required. Ability to work independently and follow instructions. Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented. Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical cleaning duties for extended periods. Ability to safely lift and move supplies or equipment. Good communication and teamwork skills.
Typical Schedule:
May include daytime, evening, overnight, weekend, or holiday shifts depending on facility needs.

$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
