In this full-time role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of school facilities, performing routine janitorial tasks, and supporting facilities maintenance activities. Your efforts will directly contribute to creating a positive learning environment by upholding high standards of cleanliness and safety. Duties Perform thorough cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, gyms, and other school areas using commercial cleaning equipment and supplies. Conduct floor care activities including sweeping, mopping, buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing to maintain pristine surfaces. Handle janitorial responsibilities such as trash removal, dusting, window cleaning, and restocking supplies to ensure a hygienic environment. Support maintenance tasks like minor repairs, painting (residential or industrial), and general facilities upkeep to keep the school in excellent condition. Operate cleaning machinery such as buffers and floor scrubbers efficiently while adhering to safety protocols. Assist with porter duties including moving furniture or equipment and setting up spaces for events or activities. Follow safety procedures diligently during all custodial and maintenance activities to promote a secure environment for everyone. Qualifications Valid Black Seal Certification is required; additional certifications in facilities maintenance or industrial cleaning are a plus. Proven experience in custodial work or janitorial services within educational or commercial settings. Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques including floor care, buffing, stripping, waxing, and general commercial cleaning practices. Experience with residential painting or industrial cleaning is advantageous. Ability to operate custodial equipment safely and effectively while maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Excellent attention to detail with a proactive approach to maintaining facility standards. Physical stamina to perform manual tasks such as lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and climbing ladders when necessary.
