A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment for assigned areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Vacuuming, sweeping, and emptying trash receptacles; Cleans fixtures, blinds, pictures, shelves, drapes and ashtrays; Wash windows, restrooms and kitchenettes, employee lounges, porches, entryways, walls, doors, and windows as needed; Move furniture; Refills toilet supplies in restrooms and hand sanitizer units as needed; Shampoo carpets, strips and waxes floors, as required; Shovels snow in entryways as required; Mop floors on a regular basis; Serves on an on-call list to assist with emergency cleanups; Maintain regular attendance; Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instruction; Knowledge in properly handling hazardous chemicals and materials; Knowledge in proper cleaning techniques; Ability to use a ladder and operate cleaning equipment (burnishes, buffers, etc.); Knowledge of safety procedures; Ability to read and write effectively.
