Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
The Environmental Services/Laundry Aide I position is responsible for a full range of housekeeping services duties, including specialized cleaning in the critical needs areas such as: patient care areas and rooms, emergency room, obstetrics and gynecology, intensive care unit, operating room, etc. in accordance with established housekeeping procedures and methods. Position work hours will vary on a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week rotating shift.
MINIMUM MANDATORY
qualifications
Experience:
One (1) year direct work experience in a healthcare or similar setting.
Education:
High school diploma or High School Equivalency Test (HSE) required.
Other Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Qualifications:
Must maintain a professional appearance and acceptable personal hygiene. Basic communication and interpersonal skills in handling interactions with hospital staff, patients and families. Basic computer and software skills are necessary for day-to-day functions. Ability to follow safety procedures to avoid the creation of hazards and contamination of oneself, patients, staff and visitors.
Willingness to obtain the following:
knowledge of routine cleaning techniques and utilization of proper procedures for cleaning. Knowledge and ability to meet routine biological control standards designed to yield a safe and, in some cases, aseptic ecological environment. Working knowledge of harmful bacteria and germicidal compounds used to combat microorganisms. The ability to clean and make mechanical adjustments on machines and other uses of housekeeping supplies and cleaning equipment. Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural and language differences. Practice courtesy towards patients, visitors and staff. A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.
