This is an unlicensed position assigned to the Classified Salary Schedule.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under immediate supervision, cleans assigned area or facilities of the Elko County School District.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The list of Duties and Responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.

1. Cleans and shampoos rugs and carpets.

2. Cleans floors by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing, or scrubbing.

3. Cleans, dusts, and polishes woodwork, furniture, glass, and other

items.

4. Services soap dispensers, towel boxes, and similar containers.

5. Empties and cleans wastepaper baskets and other refuse containers.

6. Cleans chalkboards, trays, and erasers.

7. Moves and adjusts chairs, desks, tables, supplies, furniture, and

equipment.

8. Strips, seals, and waxes floors.

9. Removes spots and graffiti from floors, walls, woodwork, furniture,

carpets, and fixtures.

10. Washes and scrubs walls, lavatory fixtures, windows, drinking

fountains, drains, lights, light fixtures, and painted surfaces.

11. Shovels, plows, and/or sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.

12. Operates power sweepers, polishers, and other power equipment.

13. Performs such grounds-keeping activities such as grass cutting,

tree and lawn trimming, fertilizing, etc. as necessary to maintain the

school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.

14. May be required to move, assemble or disassemble furniture,

equipment, or other items, or to assist other crafts in an emergency or

as the need arises.

15. Conforms to safety standards as prescribed.

16. Performs other tasks related to the position as assigned.

Involves cleaning an assigned area on a daily basis.

responsibilities of the position.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education, Training, and Experience:

High school graduation or other equivalent, (i.e., GED, college, technical, or trade school transcript, foreign equivalency, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

Custodial experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Strength:

a. Medium/Heavy

•exert force to 50-100 lbs., occasionally; 25-50

lbs.,frequently; or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly.

Physical Demands:

a. Frequent standing, walking pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping,

reaching, kneeling, handling, repetitive fine motor activities.

b. Talking.

c. Hearing.

d. Occasional climbing, balancing, crouching, and crawling.

e. Hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the

telephone.

Vision:

a. Occasional near and far acuity, depth perception, and color vision. 4.

Environmental Conditions:

a. Climate-controlled office setting and exposure to weather with

temperatures ranging from mild to moderate to extreme cold/heat.

b. Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud for

occasional to frequent time periods.

Hazards:

a. Furniture, playground/office equipment, communicable diseases,

chemicals (as related to specific assignment), and power/hand

•operated equipment and machinery (as related to specific assignment).

Portable manlift, truck mounted carpet extractor, various cleaning equipment, (i.e., vacuum, buffer, etc.).
