What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

This is the lead-worker class in the series. Required Qualifications Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Weekly Schedule MondayFriday:
4:00 pm- 12:30 am Starting Salary CBA Grade 23, Step 1 $41,384.16 Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
