Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Janitor/Cleaner that lives in the area of Astoria, Queens to maintain a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for this facility. Start time will be Monday thru Friday starting from 7:30am to 3:30pm . In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and custodial tasks to ensure that all areas are spotless, organized, and well-maintained. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will contribute significantly to the overall cleanliness and safety of our workspace, creating a positive experience for the students, employees, visitors, and clients alike. Duties Must be able to lift 40 pounds, Move some furniture around inside the location. Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal across all designated areas. Maintain cleanliness of restrooms by sanitizing fixtures, replenishing supplies, and ensuring hygiene standards are met. Conduct floor care activities such as buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing to preserve the appearance of various flooring surfaces. Handle industrial cleaning tasks using specialized equipment for large-scale or high-traffic areas. Assist with custodial maintenance duties such as window washing, wall cleaning, and light repairs when necessary. Follow safety procedures during all cleaning activities to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with health regulations. Support facilities maintenance by reporting any damages or issues requiring repair or further attention. Assist with moving some furniture around if necessary. Skills Proven experience in cleaning or janitorial roles with a strong understanding of custodial procedures. Knowledge of floor care techniques including buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing. Ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment safely and effectively. Familiarity with industrial cleaning methods for large or complex environments. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks efficiently throughout the shift.
