A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

The Older Adult Center at Bay Terrace, serving adults aged 60+, is a program of Commonpoint, a multipurpose social service agency. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Function as a part-time Porter assigned to the Older Adult Center. Room set-ups, take-downs, and clean-ups as the schedule requires. Routine cleaning including sweeping, mopping, collecting garbage, and cleaning of all rooms utilized by the Older Adult Center for programming as well as staff offices. Assist with daily lunch service including, but not limited to washing/sanitizing of utensils and wares, cleaning warmer, refrigerator, freezer and steam table as needed. Receiving, unpacking and stocking supplies as needed. Functions as part of a multidisciplinary team. Assist in maintaining cleanliness of other spaces within the Bay Terrace. Center as requested. Other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, and handling of heavy materials such as tables and chairs. Knowledge of the proper use of household tools, cleaners and cleaning equipment. Demonstrates cultural competency through familiarity in working with people from a very diverse number of backgrounds. Organizational skills to coordinate multiple tasks and responsibilities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
High School graduate or equivalency required. Must speak, read and write English fluently. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and interact with older adults in a mature, caring manner. Ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations. Ability to work independently on tasks and be responsive to supervision.
JOB DETAILS
Work schedule: part-time, 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday; must be available mornings and early afternoons.

$18.00 per hour.
