The janitorial worker maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across university classrooms, offices, restrooms, laboratories, athletic areas, and common spaces. This role performs routine and detail cleaning tasks, supports campus events with setup and breakdown, and ensures that all assigned areas meet established sanitation and housekeeping standards. Responsibilities Clean classrooms, offices, restrooms, laboratories, athletic facilities, and common areas throughout the university campus. Sweep, mop, and vacuum a variety of floor surfaces to maintain a clean and safe environment. Dust and sanitize surfaces, including desks, counters, fixtures, and high-touch areas, to support a hygienic setting. Remove trash and recycling from designated containers and transport it to appropriate collection points. Replenish supplies such as paper products, soap, and other restroom or cleaning items as needed. Assist with event setup and breakdown by moving and arranging furniture, tables, and chairs according to event requirements. Follow established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines when using cleaning products and equipment. Report any maintenance or safety issues observed in assigned areas to the appropriate contact. Work across various buildings on campus and adjust cleaning tasks based on the needs of each location. Preferred Skills Previous janitorial, housekeeping, or sanitation experience in an educational, foodservice, or similar environment. Knowledge of basic janitorial practices, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal. Capability to follow cleaning schedules and procedures with attention to detail. Familiarity with sanitation standards and best practices in high-traffic facilities. Comfort working across multiple buildings and adapting to different cleaning needs. Why Work Here? Work Environment The janitorial worker follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and works across various buildings throughout a university campus, including classrooms, offices, laboratories, athletic areas, and common spaces. The role involves frequent use of standard cleaning tools and equipment such as brooms, mops, vacuums, and sanitizing supplies. Work takes place indoors in academic and administrative facilities. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Geneva, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.25 - $18.25/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
