A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Full Job Description Location:
Six buildings throughout the district
Hours:
Up to 40 hours/week - 1st and 2nd shifts
Pay Rate:
$17.50 per hour
Duties:
Work involves the performance of routine building cleaning tasks. Under immediate supervision, an employee in this class routinely performs repetitive cleaning tasks; specific instructions are given for new assignments. Cleans and polishes desks and furnishings, washes and dusts windows, blinds, woodwork, walls and fixtures. Cleans basins, mirrors, toilets, urinals and shower stalls. Refills soap, toilet tissue and paper towel containers. Depending upon the area of assignment: May scrub, mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, wax and polish floors; move furniture to clean underneath, may collect and dispose of trash and recyclables.
Minimum Qualifications:
Prefer experience performing routine manual work involving building cleaning and general labor tasks; have working knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment commonly used in custodial work; and do related work as required.
