We're launching a new commercial kitchen exhaust hood cleaning department and are looking for an experienced Lead Technician to help build it from the ground up. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll run jobs, train and supervise a growing crew, and set the standard for safety, quality, and compliance as we grow in the Capital Region. What You'll Do Lead and perform deep cleaning of commercial kitchen exhaust systems — hoods, ductwork, fans, filters, and rooftop units — to NFPA 96 and IKECA (C10) standards Supervise and mentor a crew of 2-6 technicians on job sites, including scheduling, safety briefings, and quality checks Train new hires on equipment, chemicals, PPE, and cleaning procedures Serve as the primary point of contact on-site for facility managers and clients, ensuring service documentation (before/after photos, compliance tags, inspection reports) is completed accurately Operate and maintain pressure washers, degreasers, and related equipment; troubleshoot issues in the field Work primarily after-hours/overnight to accommodate restaurant, hotel, hospital, and institutional kitchen schedules Support the buildout of department processes: routing, inventory, safety protocols, and onboarding materials for future hires Ensure compliance with local fire codes and client contracts; flag deficiencies (grease buildup, damaged components) to management What We're Looking For 2+ years of hands-on kitchen exhaust/hood cleaning experience required; supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred IKECA certification (CECT or higher) or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days Comfortable working at heights, on rooftops, and in confined spaces Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (some CDL/box truck experience a plus) Strong communication skills — you'll be training crew and talking directly with facility clients Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in hot/tight spaces for extended periods Flexibility for evening/overnight/weekend work Background in fire suppression, HVAC/ductwork, or commercial cleaning is a plus What We Offer Competitive pay: hourly or salary, based on experience (leads in this market typically run above the $20-$35/hr entry-level range)
