SCHEDULE:
Monday-Friday, must be available between 6 pm•11 pm and Saturday and Sunday 3 pm•11 pm; (This position is temporary; summer position only.)
JOB SUMMARY
The Custodian will support the efficient operation of all spaces at 80 Pitt with an eye for detail and a strong sense of ownership. The Custodian is responsible for daily maintenance and upkeep of all bathrooms, common spaces and classrooms at 80 Pitt Street. This includes garbage removal, floor care, and general cleaning. In addition, the Custodian supports the programs with event set up and room set up as directed by the Facilities Manager.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Must have a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Previous youth based/school/community center security experience a plus. Previous experience working with a diverse population. The ideal candidate must be personable, energetic, and enthusiastic. Candidates must successfully complete the following: NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening; New York State Clearance Review Background Check; three (3) Reference Checks; Physical with updated TB Test (Fees may apply). Valid CPR/AED Pro-certification through recognized accrediting body preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain the safety and appearance of the building to the highest standard, including: Dusting and cleaning all surface areas, fixtures, and furniture Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping flooring Restocking, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms Trash collection and removal Addressing spills and trip hazards Clearing debris from exterior walkways and roof areas Organize and restock cleaning supplies. Execute room and event set up, including tables, chairs, food prep stations, etc. Responds to building-related emergencies as directed by the Facilities Manager. Maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, program participants, families, community members and program staff. Other duties and projects as assigned.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must be able to sit or stand for long periods, climb stairs, lift or move up 50 lbs. Please be advised that job offers can only be made once your clearances come through!
