Friday (School recess hours Monday-Friday adjusted to building needs) (Summer hours Monday-Thursday approx. 6 am

NY HELPS

(Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Program Statewide) is a New York State program that allows civil service agencies to hire qualified permanent employees quickly and without requiring them to take a competitive civil service exam. It was created to help agencies fill critical vacancies by streamlining the appointment process, though candidates must still meet all other minimum qualifications for the job. 12-month positions receive paid holidays, sick & personal days, earn vacation time, are eligible for health and dental insurance and membership in the NYS Retirement System. Job Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience in commercial cleaning practice or general building maintenance, including experience in any one (1) of the following trades: Carpentry, Electrical, HV & AC Systems, Plumbing; or Six (6) years of experience in commercial cleaning practice or general building maintenance, including experience in any one (1) of the following trades: Carpentry, Electrical, HV & AC Systems, Plumbing; or An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).

Special Requirement:

Possession of a valid Class D New York State driver's license at the time of appointment.

NOTE:

Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
