Hicks Nurseries is the largest garden center on Long Island! We are seeking a Custodial Staff Member to join our team. This is a part-time year around position with a flexible schedule. 10 to 20 hours a week. Weekends required.

Essential Functions:

Clean all assigned areas, while following established procedures in a timely manner

Areas:

bathrooms, offices, break rooms, store areas, etc. Use tools and supplies, economically for each task Advise manager when supplies are running low Empty garbage, trash, and recycling cans Remove and deposit garbage, trash, and recycling from assigned areas to appropriate receptacles Maintain coffee machine in employee lunchroom Replenish coffee and filters daily Ability to communicate effectively in English. Detailed oriented and ability to prioritize projects.

Work Requirements:

Near constant physical activity required, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, squeezing, and grasping. Must be able to lift 10 lbs. consistently and 25 lbs. occasionally.

Work Environment:

Fast paced Team focus Indoor and outdoor activities including in greenhouse locations with fans and other cooling devices, but without air conditioning; the temperature in warm-weather seasons can reach 95+ degrees at times; outdoor work can take place in winter Dirty, dusty, muddy work areas
