We maintain clean, safe, and structured environments that support both staff and the individuals we serve. Position Overview We are seeking a reliable, hardworking Janitor/Custodian to maintain our Academy facility—an alternative education program serving youth with behavioral challenges. This is a high-demand environment. Due to the nature of the population, the building experiences heavy daily wear and requires consistent, thorough cleaning throughout the day. This is not a light-duty cleaning position—only candidates prepared for a physically demanding, fast-paced environment should apply. Responsibilities Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and remove trash throughout the facility Clean and sanitize restrooms multiple times daily Maintain high-touch surface sanitation (desks, doors, etc.) Perform floor care including buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing Respond to spills, messes, and unexpected cleaning needs in real time Maintain cleaning supplies and report inventory needs Follow all safety and sanitation standards Qualifications Prior janitorial, custodial, or commercial cleaning experience preferred Strong work ethic and reliability (attendance is critical) Ability to work independently and stay on task Comfortable working in a school setting with behavioral health clients Physically able to handle repetitive cleaning tasks, lifting, and extended time on feet Attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean environment Why This Role Matters The cleanliness of this facility directly impacts the safety, structure, and success of the students and staff inside.
