Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Cleans and services areas within the facility and is responsible for general building appearance and individual housekeeping services provided to residents. Also launders linens; washes, folds and bags resident flat laundry under the supervision of the Housekeeping Manager. Is Responsible for the maintenance of the linen supply and individual laundry services provided to each resident of the facility.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Cleans and services designated areas within the facility. Reports and problems/breakage of all equipment to Housekeeping Manager immediately for repairs. 2. Performs heavy-duty floor and carpet care by vacuuming, shampooing and mopping, 3. Gathers trash from collection points in the facility, deposits in dumpster; and uses trash compactor as necessary. 4. Performs apartment cleaning, including, but not limited to, washing kitchen cabinets, ceiling panels, turning mattresses, moving furniture and appliances, washing windows, hanging and taking down curtains and draperies, vacuuming, mopping, washing vent covers and light covers, etc. 5. Helps as necessary to move furniture of residents changing apartments, or facility items to be moved to other areas. 6. Sweeps and mops stairwells, service hallway, laundry rooms, restrooms, café area and spa area. 7. Performs work for the Maintenance Department as required: Replaces light bulbs and ceiling tiles, cleans outside stairwells, sidewalks, driveways, shovels snow, cleans bus, removes carpeting in vacant apartments prior to replacement, assists in planting and watering flowers, pulls weeds, performs other grounds work as requested. 8. Completes housekeeping work orders, performs spring cleanings when requested to do so. 9. Other tasks as requested or assigned. Knowledge, skills and abilities Knowledge of general housekeeping and custodial procedures, and the ability to be trained to accurately operate equipment necessary to the function of job duties including, but not limited to, floor cleaning equipment and other general housekeeping equipment and supplies necessary for the performance of job duties. Ability to read printed and written material, including instructions for the operation of equipment, and use of cleaning supplies/chemicals necessary for the performance of job duties. Ability to be flexible in carrying out daily job duties, and able to organize and prioritize tasks. Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to respond to each resident with empathy and respect. Knowledge of policies, procedures, philosophies, rules and regulations governing the delivery of services to consumers. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other departments, and consumers. Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with consumers, visitors and staff.
