A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Full-time Rate of Pay:
Range based on experience, starting at $20.76 per hour
Description:
Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner Perform minor repairs, including, but not limited to, glass replacement, electrical repairs, wood repairs, painting, and metal repairs Maintain safety of building Maintain playground equipment Operate and perform routine maintenance on the heating system Operate and maintain the waste and sewage system Maintain school grounds and landscape Perform other duties as assigned by
Principal/Head Maintenance/Superintendent NOTE:

Essential Functions:
Perform general labor inside and outside the physical plant including district wide grounds keeping, handling materials and supplies, moving equipment, operating power-driver equipment, mowing, etc. Assist with custodial or maintenance duties

Maintain all safety and code requirements of the federal, state, and local board of education guidelines Perform other duties as assigned by the
Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivilant BCII report Valid driver's license
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work effectively with others Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing Effective, active listening skills Organizational and problem solving skills Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings, and labels Ability to operate machinery

Carpentry tools Lawnmower Various hand tools and power tools

Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue Frequent travel between buildings and to get supplies Occasional repetitive hand motion, e.g., use of hand tools Occasional requirement to work in high places Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic, dangerous, or caustic chemicals, e.g., chlorine, asbestos, welding dust Occasional exposure to loud noises, e.g., power tools
