A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

As the VMCCC is a 24/7 operation, work hours vary according to events held at the facility. This is a Part-time position working approx 20 hours a week; hours will be Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 8 am•1 pm, occasionally additional hours to be approved by supervisor and dependent on event needs. Job:
The Custodian performs custodial maintenance duties, which include but are not limited to the following:
FACILITY READINESS
Cleaning includes pre• during• and post-event trash pick-up and removal and cleaning. General, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, restocking paper and soap supplies Buffing floors and shampooing carpets Control and maintain housekeeping equipment such as brooms, mops, buckets, gloves, bags and cleaning solutions, man-lift, floor scrubber, dishwashing equipment. Performs cleaning functions specific to assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/event requirements
EQUIPMENT READINESS
Maintains proper supplies, tools, and equipment to ensure efficient operation of the facility within budget. Safety regulations with staff, including proper use of chemicals and in accordance with MSDS. Convention center/theater housekeeping and conversions as needed. Support with light maintenance during slow periods.
FACILITY SUPPORT AND OVERSIGHT
Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels Other Duties assigned Adhere to all VMCCC policies and procedures. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned Participate on VMCCC's team for annual report and annual volunteer appreciation dinner.

Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent required; higher education a plus. Perform with minimal supervision.

Mathematical Skills:

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Position requires:
a) use of power equipment to buff and restore floors and shampoo carpets; b) regular and routine dusting, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash and cleaning restrooms; and c) routine maintenance to custodial equipment. Candidate must have the ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment and safely use cleaning equipment and supplies. Will be required to do prolonged standing; lift up to 50 lbs; load and unload 100 lb. from truck; wear proper safety clothing and gear when needed; safely use equipment such as a man-lift, lifting portable staging, running dishwashers, and possible theater work such as lifting weights, pulling lines, and walking 20 feet or higher off ground; limited work in all climates of outdoor weather; work variable hours to include weekends and holidays based upon work load and schedule; follow the policy and procedures set forth by the VMCCC. Will be required to perform all job tasks using Federal, State, County and VMCCC safety guidelines and precautions. Stamina to work long hours and to multitask when needed or where applicable. This job requires considerable physical activity and is a primary part of the job.
