A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Ability to handle multiple work priorities simultaneously; ability to work with minimal supervision in a highly self-motivated manner; general knowledge of custodial equipment and supplies, ability to lift and move 50 pounds if necessary. Adaptable to ever-changing technological needs of the facility, and changes in procedures, environment, and responsibilities. Physical ability to ascend/descend ladder, or kneel, crawl into high, low or tight spaces to clean hard to reach areas. Must be able to read and understand SDS sheets and department directives. Preferred Qualifications High School/GED HS/GED and 0-6 months general custodial experience; knowledge of custodial equipment and supplies.
