What they do

A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

Position Summary:
Courteously maintain the interior common and work areas of the company and efficiently respond to various requests incidental janitorial service as they occur.
Primary Responsibilities:
Maintain the cleanliness of interior common areas of Company (break rooms, restrooms, hallways, etc. to the defined standards set by the Company. Maintain the various interior work areas (vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash collection) as set by the Company established schedule. Courteously respond to requests for unexpected service as needed Cleaning and maintaining internal supplies for assigned cleaning cart and equipment Other duties and tasks as assigned
Essential Qualifications:
Experience in working within a professional environment. Knowledge of basic janitorial skills. Experience using tools typical to janitorial work (brooms, mops, sponges, etc.) Ability to read and understand the "Directions of Use" on cleaning products and the ability to safely use those products in a commercial environment. Awareness of the potential safety related issues associated with using commercial cleaning products (slipping hazards, air quality concerns, proper handling and storage, etc.)

Standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, twisting, and lifting. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs., with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, and reaching frequently up to 10 lbs. The ability to stand for up to 8 hours during a shift. The ability to frequently move about within various departments as well as within and between both buildings of the company without unduly disrupting the on-going work of fellow employees, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment:
Normal office environment, temperature controlled. Warehouse environment, temperature controlled in the range of 60 degrees to 80 degrees, and/or non-temperature controlled in the range of 40 degrees to 90 degrees. May include occasionally working outdoors in all weather conditions, working in noisy areas, and working in areas with dust or fumes.
