A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description
McKenzie SD 68 is hiring a temporary custodian to support the maintenance and cleanliness of district facilities. This is an on call position. Key Duties Maintain facilities security and safety while on campus Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, wax, and polish floors and surfaces Collect and empty waste and recycling containers Clean windows, mirrors, blinds, light fixtures, walls, and drinking fountains Disinfect restrooms and replenish supplies Sweep walkways and perform routine groundskeeping Move, set up, and maintain furniture, equipment, and supplies Ensure proper lighting, heating, and ventilation throughout the facility Perform minor building and equipment repairs (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc.) Collaborate with staff and support students and patrons as needed Maintain confidentiality when working with staff, students, parents, and community members Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Coordinator or Administration Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (GED) Previous custodial experience preferred Knowledge of cleaning methods and safe use of cleaning equipment and materials Ability to perform moderately heavy lifting (50-75 lbs) and physically demanding tasks Basic repair skills for facilities and equipment Ability to follow instructions, routines, and directives Strong interpersonal skills; able to maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and the public Flexible and reliable; able to work varying hours as needed Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
