CONEMAUGH VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE
Cleaner
REPORTS TO
Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds/Asst Sup of Buildings and Grounds SUMMARY:
The Cleaners will maintain the house keeping and cleaning in the district facilities so that the facilities can be utilized at all times for optimal educational, extra-curricular, and community functions in an environment that is clean, comfortable, safe and attractive for all students, staff, and public. A cleaner must maintain the buildings and grounds in a state of operational excellence as prescribed by established district standards and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ø Must possess the ability to read, write, and perform simple math. High School diploma or equivalent is preferred. Ø Must possess the physical stamina necessary to complete an entire eight (8) hour work shift that includes periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, operating industrial cleaning equipment, and light to moderate lifting. Ø Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions with a minimum of supervision and also show initiative to identify tasks to be done while developing good work habits. Ø Must display problem solving abilities when applicable to job responsibilities. Ø Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with students, staff, and public. Ø Must be reliable and punctual, follow a work schedule, and be available to work different shifts including evenings and weekends.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Maintain of buildings by completing assigned cleaning tasks that include, but are not limited to:
  • Collect and dispose of trash.
  • Dust and polish student and teacher classroom furniture.
  • Sweep and mop floors.
  • Clean windows.
  • Wash or dust blackboard/smartboards and other classroom technology, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Ensure restrooms are sanitary and well stocked with paper products.
  • Ensure drinking fountains are sanitary.
  • Police buildings and grounds for any other necessary cleaning, damage, or vandalism.
Ø Maintain a in district buildings by monitoring temperatures and reporting any problems to a supervisor or member of the custodial staff. Ø Maintain the of buildings and grounds by monitoring classrooms/hallways/offices for safety hazards, spot mopping hallway or classroom spills, ensuring doors remain locked when appropriate, securing building upon request, and reporting any electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry repairs that are needed in all district buildings, grounds, and play areas . Ø Maintain an environment through good cleaning habits, regular checks and reporting of lighting issues, and monitoring and recommending all other housekeeping needs to custodial staff. Ø Report major maintenance issues to the Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds. Ø Present a positive attitude and professional image of yourself and the district. Ø Perform any and all duties or responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds, Building Principals, Business Manager, or Superintendent.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated on a regular ongoing basis by the Supervisor and the Assistant Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds and will include one annual written performance evaluation.
