What they do
A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Duties Perform general cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming of assigned areas Sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and high-touch surfaces to meet health standards Maintain cleanliness of floors, windows, walls, and fixtures using appropriate cleaning supplies and equipment Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper as needed Follow safety protocols and proper handling of cleaning chemicals Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management promptly Adhere to company policies and procedures to ensure quality service delivery Experience Prior experience in commercial or residential cleaning is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for all new hires Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Good physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods Reliable transportation is a plus for reaching various job sites Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain high standards of cleanliness
