Monday-Friday (Shift hours vary based on assignment) Position Summary The McKeesport Area School District is seeking dependable, motivated individuals to join our Facilities Department as General Custodians. Custodians play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, secure, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and other assigned areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces. Empty trash and recycling receptacles and properly dispose of waste. Clean and disinfect restroom facilities and replenish paper products and soap supplies. Assist with cafeteria cleaning and setup/cleanup for school meal programs and special events. Clean windows, glass, drinking fountains, walls, and other building surfaces. Secure classrooms, offices, windows, doors, and building entrances at the conclusion of assigned shifts. Replace light bulbs and other routine custodial supplies as needed. Assist with floor maintenance, including stripping, recoating, burnishing, and waxing floors. Report maintenance concerns and safety hazards through established work order procedures. Assist with building setup and cleanup for school functions and special events. Assist with snow and ice removal during inclement weather as directed. Maintain custodial equipment and supplies in a clean and orderly manner. Follow all district safety procedures and applicable OSHA regulations. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Building Administrator, Director of Facilities, or Supervisor. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous custodial or facilities experience preferred but not required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical duties including bending, climbing, reaching, standing, and walking for extended periods. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and the public. Terms of Employment Full-time position Monday-Friday schedule (hours vary by assignment) Salary and benefits in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
