JOB GOAL
: The Custodial Worker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the school building and following all required procedures when cleaning. Responsibilities Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them. Gather and empty all trash. Clean and supply restrooms and polish furniture and fixtures. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, doors, walls using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees. Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications. Steam-clean or shampoo carpets. Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks. Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, for board meetings and events. Perform related duties as required. Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent High degree of professionalism Reliable and able to work some weekends. Physical Demands Speak, stand, talk, walk, see, hear and, sometimes, to sit. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to read small print. Frequently bend, reach above the head, as well as forward, and use fine motor skills.
