A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Goal:
Coordinates activities to ensure that District vehicles and buses are properly cleaned and ready for service.
Employment Terms:
12 Month Contract, 8 hours per day
7:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M., exclusive of a lunch
Occasionally, special arrangements may be made with the supervisor if the situation warrants. Supervisor approval is required if the contract varies.

Regular Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform tasks such as power washing, vacuuming, sweeping, fueling, and general cleanup of District buses and vehicles.
2. Maintains the ability to read a daily schedule and prioritize workload accordingly.
3. Must be able to maintain shop equipment and keep the work area clean.
4. Assist the mechanic and drivers as needed with maintenance and upkeep of District vehicles and equipment.
5. Ability to help out as a bus aide, if personnel is limited during the school year.
6. To ensure continuity of services, remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee's eligibility for remote work will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for remote work will be distributed by the employee's supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
7. Performs all other tasks as the supervisor may assign.
