Job Title:
Sanitation Worker Job Description The sanitation worker cleans and sanitizes industrial equipment and facility areas to maintain a bacteria-free, contaminant-free environment in a production setting. This role uses a variety of tools and cleaning methods to ensure all equipment and floors meet strict cleanliness and safety standards. Responsibilities Clean stainless steel equipment and concrete floors using shovels, rakes, hoses, brooms, and brushes. Inspect assigned areas after cleaning to ensure all surfaces and equipment meet sanitation standards. Operate steam cleaners and foamers to apply cleaning solutions as directed. Safely apply and remove cleaning chemicals such as chlorine, following all safety procedures. Maintain, repair, and replace personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed to ensure safe working conditions. Assist other sanitation workers with cleaning tasks and equipment handling when needed. Move wheelbarrows, bins, and totes weighing up to 50 pounds safely throughout the facility. Assist with groundskeeping activities, including mowing and garbage removal, when required. Follow all safety precautions, including chemical handling protocols and lock-out procedures. Work at a fast pace and complete assigned tasks within given deadlines. Crawl under low equipment to access hard-to-reach areas that require cleaning. Undergo training to mix and prepare chemical cleaning solutions safely and accurately. Obtain and maintain forklift certification if assigned to operate material handling equipment. Adapt to working in loud or cold environments as required by production and sanitation needs. Essential Skills Ability to operate a 200 psi high-pressure hose safely and effectively. Ability to safely apply and remove cleaning chemicals such as chlorine in accordance with safety guidelines. Capability to crawl under low equipment to reach and clean confined or obstructed areas. Strong adherence to safety precautions, including chemical safety and lock-out procedures. Ability to work at a fast pace while meeting deadlines in a production environment. Experience with cleaning and sanitizing industrial or production equipment and floors. Comfort working in loud or cold environments as part of regular duties. Physical ability to move and lift wheelbarrows, bins, and totes up to 50 pounds. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in sanitation, food production, or food processing environments. Experience in warehouse, janitorial, or industrial cleaning work. Skill in sweeping, sanitizing, and maintaining cleanliness in large facility spaces. Willingness to obtain forklift certification when requested. Willingness to be trained to mix and prepare chemical cleaning solutions. Ability to assist with groundskeeping tasks such as mowing and garbage removal. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in an industrial production facility with a focus on sanitation and cleanliness. You use tools such as shovels, rakes, hoses, brooms, brushes, steam cleaners, and foamers, and you handle chemical cleaning solutions including chlorine while following strict safety procedures. The environment can be loud or cold, and some tasks require crawling under low equipment and moving bins or totes up to 50 pounds. Day shift start times vary between approximately 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., and you need to be comfortable checking the schedule regularly and adapting to changing start times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moses Lake, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.10 - $19.10/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
