A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping or vacuuming Wipe down/degreasing machinery Maintain housekeeping equipment, provide inventory assistance Empty all waste containers each day Industrial cleaners are responsible for notifying employees of hazards using warning signs such as wet floor signs, caution tape, etc. Maintain required signs, labels. Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred Must be efficient, detail oriented & able to finish work assignments in a timely manner Able to communicate effectively with Management & co-workers Able to reach, bend, stoop, push/pull & frequently move up to 50 lbs. Able to safely climb ladders & stairs Must wear safety glasses, gloves & other protective clothing as directed Experience performing housekeeping/industrial cleaning is a plus
