The Critical Environment Cleaner I (CEC I) is responsible for performing general and specialized cleaning operations within an active HPC (High-Performance Computing) data center facility. Working under the direct supervision of a Lead Critical Environment Cleaner, this role maintains the contamination control standards essential to protecting live server infrastructure worth hundreds of millions of dollars. No prior data center experience is required — candidates from Bitcoin Mining Operations, industrial facilities, or technical environments are strongly encouraged to apply. All certifications are employer-paid and provided on-site from Day 1. High school diploma or GED Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen Availability for 24/7 rotating shift schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays (2-2-3 rotation) Physical ability to lift 40lbs, stand 8-12 hours per shift, and work in elevated-temperature environments Reliable transportation to site — West Texas location, fully on-site role OSHA 10 General Industry certification —requiredwithin60 days of hire (employer-paid, employer-scheduled) ESD Awareness Orientation —required before solo floor work (in-house TTT, provided by employer)
HEPA/ULPA
Vacuum Operation —required before solo floor work (on-the-job, provided by employer) CPR / First Aid / AED —required within 60 days (employer-paid)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience in Bitcoin Mining Operations, ASIC equipment repair, or data center facilities — qualifies directly Familiarity with ESD, anti-static handling, or sensitive electronics environments Experience operating industrial vacuum equipment or HEPA filtration systems Experience following written SOPs, MOPs, or work order documentation Prior military service, industrial operations, or manufacturing environment experience Data Hall Cleaning & Contamination Control Perform systematic cleaning of data halls, hot/cold aisles, server corridors, raised floors, and non-equipment zones according to approved SOPs Operate
HEPA/ULPA
vacuums and anti-static mops, wipes, and cleaning tools in active server environments Remove packing materials, cardboard, cable debris, and construction waste from active data hall floors Maintain sub-floor cleanliness under raised-floor panels as directed by Lead CEC Apply contamination control protocols at all times— no unapproved materials, tools, or chemicals on the floor Safety & Protocol Compliance Complete site-specific safety induction on Day 1 and adhere to all emergency and operational procedures Wear and maintain ESD-safe footwear, wrist straps, and PPE at all times on active data hall floors Follow all MOP (Method of Procedure) and EOP (Emergency Operating Procedure) documents for assigned tasks Report equipment anomalies, infrastructure concerns, or safety near-misses to CEC II or Lead CEC immediately Never operate outside the scope of approved cleaning zones without Lead CEC authorization Documentation & Reporting Complete and sign cleaning logs accurately at the end of each assigned shift Document materials usage, PPE condition, and any equipment issues in the shift log Report all incidents and near-misses verbally to the Lead CEC and in writing in the incident log Team Support Work cooperatively with CEC II, Lead CEC, and data center operations staff Support setup and breakdown of cleaning equipment and supply staging areas Participate in quarterly contamination event response drills as directed At IREN, we offer a comprehensive, market-competitive total rewards package designed to support employees' well-being, career advancement, and financial wealth.
