A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Performs various custodial tasks to ensure the cleanliness of college facilities. Work hours are from 2:00 am to 10:00 am Monday- Friday.

Responsibilities:
95% Performs general custodial duties of all buildings. Routine duties include but are not limited to the following: empties, sanitizes, and relines trash receptacles sweeps and mops floors cleans and sanitizes bathroom and bathroom fixtures and refills disposable items vacuums rooms with carpeting strips, scrubs, seals and buffs tile floors cleans carpets 5% Performs other job related duties as assigned. Demonstrates the Viking Values of balance, clarity, gratitude, service, teamwork, and trust. Works independently to complete assigned tasks. Practices workplace safety; follows directions for properly using cleaning supplies and equipment. Maintains building security by ensuring areas are secured and locked as cleaning assignments are complete. Provides a high level of service to the campus community.Qualifications:
Up to six months of similar or related experience. Two years responsible experience in a similar custodial job preferred. No high school degree required. Normal courtesy in dealing with others required. Must be able to operate cleaning equipment. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in English. Must have basic computer skills and the ability to learn institutional software programs and systems. Moderate physical exertion is required including walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, twisting, stretching, and reaching. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.- Application is required to be considered for position regardless if resume is submitted.
