JOB TITLE

Janitor

JOB SUMMARY

A janitor maintains cleanliness and order in facilities such as schools, offices, hospitals, and residential buildings. They ensure that spaces are sanitary, organized, and safe for occupants.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clean and sanitize floors, walls, windows, and surfaces
  
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors
  
• Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly
  
• Clean restrooms and replenish supplies (soap, paper towels, etc.)
  
• Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment
  
• Perform minor repairs (e.g., fixing leaks, replacing light bulbs)
  
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies
  
• Report safety hazards or maintenance issues
  
• Follow health and safety regulations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• No formal education required (high school diploma may be preferred)
  
• On-the-job training is typically provided
  
• Previous cleaning or maintenance experience is a plus
• Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment
  
• Ability to operate cleaning machines (e.g., floor buffers, vacuums)
  
• Attention to detail and cleanliness
  
• Physical stamina (standing, bending, lifting)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Essential physical requirements include:
