Full Job Description Service Porter Position Description:
In a retail dealership environment, perform daily cleaning and organizational routines that provide a safe working environment for all staff in the service department.
High Leverage Activities:
(focus actions) 1. To remove trash daily from the cans that have been filled as well as picking up debris on floor that is not being utilized by technicians or other staff members in the service department. 2. To place clean mops and buckets with soap and clean hot water for technicians to use daily. 3. To sweep, mop, and clean the center aisle of shop, around and in restroom area, around management and advisor offices, and hallway to parts department daily with provided cleaning tools and cleaning agents.
Key Responsibilities and Performance Measures:
To clean and perform some light duty maintenance to service department shop and or building daily or as instructed by direct supervisors and/or managers. Provide updates if any items in service department need to be repaired due to breaks or leaks or unforeseen issues that may occur. Work with technicians to coordinate times to assist technicians with a clean, safe and well-organized work area. To clean and maintain oil pits and fluid area with the assistance of technicians. Monitor fluid levels and bring to the attention of supervisor or manager issues that need to be addressed. To clean and maintain the break room. To assist in the cleanliness and maintenance of wash bays and components that pertain to these areas. Follow safe work practices and procedures, uses safety equipment when required, responds to suggestions for working safely and seeks assistance when necessary. Operate and maintain with proper use all company supplied tools, machines and cleaners safely and as directed. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor and or manager.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Duties are performed throughout the inside and outside of the building(s). Employee is exposed to dirt, dust, heat, cold, noise and vibration, fumes and odors, wetness and humidity, and sometimes darkness. Employee is required to stand, walk, kneel, squat, crawl, bend, and twist. Employee may have to climb and/or lift up to and over 80 pounds frequently. Visual requirements are constant. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Due to the nature of the environment, employee is exposed to potential mechanical, chemical, electrical and fire hazards on a regular basis.
