Job Description
Primary Purpose:
Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance and safety
Procedures knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
Physical ability to perform duties (Lifting up to 50 pounds required)
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Tools/Equipment Used:
Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, shampooer, lawn mower, edger and weed eater
Posture/ Motion:
Frequent walking, standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Lifting:
Occasional lifting and carrying (lifting up to 50 pounds required)
Environment:
May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel
Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; communicate effectively and professionally at all times; work outside and inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces and ladders. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Maintaining a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets,
2. Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and play areas neat and clean.
3. Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
4. Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.
5. Assist in setting up facilities for special events. 6. Act professional with fellow employees and students and follow District policies.
Safety
7. Follow established procedures for locking, checking and safeguarding facilities.
8. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. 9. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
10. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
11. Report accident to Custodial Supervisor.
12. Follow all safety procedures of Victoria Independent School District.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
