A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Job Description

Custodian - Part Time - 13 Hours per Week
GENERAL FUNCTION
Working thirteen hours a week after school cleaning and maintaining school facilities using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Cleaning Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning floors, whiteboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms. Keep school buildings and grounds neat and clean, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas. Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash. Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed. Maintenance and Repair Perform preventive maintenance to ensure students' and staff's comfort, health, and safety. Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the principal. Assist in setting up facilities for special events. Maintain school grounds, including mowing, trimming, and landscaping; operate and repair sprinkler systems; and manage snow and ice removal to ensure safe and accessible walkways and parking areas. Safety Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities. Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents must be fingerprinted, and a criminal background check must be cleared.
