Job Description
The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider a gratifying and exciting employment opportunity with our school. We are looking for a meticulous and responsible Custodial Supervisor. This position will be working in Salt Lake. Principal Duties As a Custodial Supervisor you will: Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in the cleaning and upkeep of building interiors and works along with them to complete tasks and maintain USDB facilities in a clean and orderly condition, including cleaning and maintaining floors, dusting, waxing, and polishing furniture, washing windows, mirrors, and other glass or plastic items, emptying trash and garbage, cleaning walls and bathrooms, etc., cleaning and disinfecting areas and equipment, repairing, cleaning, adjusting and/or performing preventive maintenance on equipment, tools, machinery, etc. Provide assistance and on-the-job training in the proper use of chemicals and equipment, cleaning procedures and set-ups for special events to include chairs, tables, speakers, etc. Review and/or inspects work for quality, accuracy, and completeness. Ensure that there is an adequate supply of materials available. Follows all policies, procedures, laws and regulations; This position is for USDB locations in the Salt Lake area, and as needed at other locations. Travel to various USDB locations is required. The Ideal Candidate The Ideal Candidate will possess: Knowledge of housekeeping practices, techniques and procedures. Machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance. Applicable laws, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures. Ability to supervise others by assigning/directing work. Conducting staff training and development. Identifying developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge, skills, and abilities. Making hiring/termination recommendations, etc. Ability to use cleaning agents, products, and equipment. Maintain and/or repair tools and equipment; maintain inventory. Track receipt, sending and delivery of materials. Communicate clearly and effectively verbally and/or in writing. Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism. Enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in either written or electronic form. Follow written and/or verbal instructions. Travel to various USDB locations is required. Successful completion of criminal background check is required for this position.
